FOSDEM 2026 meeting agenda - collection of items

Hello,

for FOSDEM 2026, there are two internal meetings planned:

  • Monday after FOSDEM, February 2: meeting of board, MC and team
  • Tuesday after FOSDEM, February 3: meeting of board and MC only

From what I remember, we should be at betacowork/ICAB again. @italovignoli Can you confirm we have the rooms reserved there and from when to when?

We will have microphones and cameras for those who cannot participate in person, and will meet in the TDFBoard Jitsi room.

This way, team members are not blocked for another day where they cannot attend, saving time and costs.

We need to prepare an agenda for both days, and I’d like to collect ideas here in this thread. There might be some sensitive topics which cannot be shared publicly, in which case we should redact.

Let’s collect items for the meetings here, so I can prepare a final agenda out of that.

Ideally, let’s add the estimated amount of time, and who drives/presents each topic. Should there be material available or be prepared for the meeting, let’s mention this as well.

Thanks,
Florian

Proposals that were collected during the team meeting so far are the following:

  • budget 2026 (Florian, probably 30-60 minutes)
  • web and mobile
  • hiring approach in foreign countries, delays
  • AI
  • how companies can support us
  • funding, grants, donation mechanisms, A/B testing
  • advisory board
  • Arrange Team meeting in Munich or somewhere else
  • How to answer enterprise requests
  • Business developer to increase ecosystem/partner companies
    • join marketing / commmunication / go to market
    • Join participation in events
    • Knowledge transfer
    • Migrations advise / Training

I do not mention names, but if one of you proposed an item and wants to drive it, feel free to speak out here.

For the board+MC meeting, I would like to add:

  • various legal topics

Hi Florian,
thank you for the topic.
For Monday’s meeting, I would like to add

  • visibility of the project (15min)

Thank you!

Good point! Let me extend it by “…and foundation”.

We often see LibreOffice mentioned in news articles, but not so offten TDF. While it’s great ecosystem companies are mentioned, I think also TDF as LibreOffice home should be known. We lack visibility here, in particular when it comes to Online. The outside impression created is we don’t do anything in this field, which is bad.

Regarding whether the meetings are public or not:

Not only are some contents sensitive information that cannot be shared. It is also a challenge to have a meeting with 20-30 people present already, let alone the general public.

I suggest to have the meetings in private (maybe adding a 10-20 minute public community Q&A slot). Afterwards, items that can be published will be published, and publicly discussed in separate threads and/or meetings.

That way we can have an effective FOSDEM meeting, and at the same time involve the wider community.
