You can see all votes at The Document Foundation - Votes
Seems 62 for Budapest and 37 for Luxembourg
That makes 99 voters out of 175 eligible voters: The Document Foundation Members — The Document Foundation

Thanks.
I think it would be good to communicate to the members, before the public notice of the election. We do not know if anyone might have any doubts about the vote.

The members were informed about the outcome of the election:

I think we also mentioned how to check your vote in the voting message itself, so people have the URL of the above website.

What we didn’t do is to add the math to the blogpost indeed.

If I am not mistaken, that is the communication in the Blog.
Remembering that there were several reminders for the vote, it seems to me that one with the result, and a minimum time to present allegations, by those responsible for the vote, would be nice.

We followed what we did for the 2020 conference vote, see the respective timeline: The LibreOffice 2020 Conference location poll rules

We had a challenging phase in the earlier years, not in recent ones. Given the lead time is getting short, and organizers need feedback, not having a challenging phase is sensible I think.

What are your concerns regarding the vote?

I don’t have any concerns, I am pleased with the result, but any Member is entitled to have them.
BTW, there is more than a year with this Board in charge, I think it is time to see something positive.

If a member has concerns, they can reach out here in this thread, write to me directly, reply to elections@, or reach out to Mike Saunders, whose name is listed as sender. I think there are plenty of options. Also, the elections mail lists how to verify one’s vote token. So I am quite sure that any member who has concerns has numerous ways to raise them.

Regarding seeing something positive: Of course, we all want that. The unfortunate reality is, however, that this board is busy at great length in dealing with issues from the past. One way to avoid such situations in the future is to make the community more vigilant, so they speak out when they see something that does not seem ok. We had lots of things public in the past already, where more community engagement could have possibly helped to avert entering a situation we see now.

With the recent publication of the minutes and decisions from the 2022-2024 board term, I hope much more detail and information is available that helps in understanding the situation and supporting the current board. And of course, there are some further ideas maybe a bit hidden in the budget discussion, which we will hopefully finalize in the next board meeting.

  • The fact that there are different ways is no excuse for not doing it right.

  • Sure I’m wrong, but are you the speaker of the board?

  • If publishing the minutes and decisions is part of the Director’s duties, the delay of many years does not seem too nice to me.

  • The fact that there are different ways is no excuse for not doing it right.

What is the “right” way?
Is this your opinion, or is it backed by statutes or regulations?
If the former, please accept there might be two different opinions then, and both are likewise valid.

  • Sure I’m wrong, but are you the speaker of the board?

Did I claim so?

  • If publishing the minutes and decisions is part of the Director’s duties, the delay of many years does not seem too nice to me.

You need to address this to the previous board.

  • In the same way that we are called to vote, informed of the result, and we are given a period of complaint, even if it is minimal, before the selected place is confirmed by the board and made public.

  • What is this?
"Regarding seeing something positive: Of course, we all want that. The unfortunate reality is, however, that this board is busy at great length in dealing with issues from the past ..."

  • When were all the minutes and decisions of the current Board published?

In the same way that we are called to vote, informed of the result, and we are given a period of complaint, even if it is minimal, before the selected place is confirmed by the board and made public.

Again my question: Is this something you claim is a legal requirement per statutes and laws, or is this your personal opinion? I understand it is your personal opinion, and I respect it. But please respect that there are also other opinions. This time, given the time pressure, the people in charge for running the vote decided to skip the challenging period, just as we did in 2020. I am not saying we cannot do it different next time, neither I am saying we will.

What is this?

A quote of my message. What is the problem with this statement of mine?

When were all the minutes and decisions of the current Board published?

Just today a big chunk was published. I am not happy it took so long, and definitely hope things will be faster in the future. But if people are busy with dealing with lots of issues from the past, that eats a lot of time. The behaviour of some people comes at a cost - it eats time, energy and takes resources from other important topics. That’s why I hope the community becomes more vigilant on this.

Hi @floeff, all,

Yes, and the hope is, that the board term will be long enough, to have at least the most urgent issues sorted out. I’m crossing my fingers!

As an aside & for context: every single TDF board (except for the first one, where @floeff was a member) had to deal with issues left behind by previous boards. The last one (where I was a part of) then had those massive legal problems dropped into our laps, which we struggled with for the full term. It is perhaps testament to the scale of those issues, that the current board, even after more than a year in, still has not solved a single one of them.

Best, Thorsten
