New Chapter Template for LO24

Final version of the LO Chapter Template is now available in the Contributors Resources > Chapter Template folder on NextCloud.

The filename is LO24-UG-Chapter-Template.

I will now update the LO user guide template to match the chapter template.

Hi @peewee

Thank you for the work on the template. I think it will work on our new books and will allow us to create our sanity check macros.

May I ask you to clean the “Chapter Template” folder? It contains intermediate files and can confuse our writers. The folder should have only the template, I suppose.

Cheers
Olivier

Hello Olivier

I will be finishing the User Guide Template today and issuing the template onto NextCloud. I am bringing this template into line with the Chapter Template.
I will also clean up the Chapter Template folder so there is no chance of our volunteers from using the wrong version.

The new templates for LO 24 User Guides and UG Chapters are now available on NextCloud in the Contributor Resources > Chapter and User Guide Templates folder.

If anyone has any comments on these new templates, please let me know.

I shall now make a start on the Impress and Draw User Guides for LO24.

Hi Peter
I’m coming back to the “Heading 1 First” as indicated by @jeanweber . I added this style to the template, including the explanation in the paragraph styles table.

Olivier

I think we should keep paragraph style “Caption” in the template, to properly categorize it and make it easier to distinguish from the Figure paragraph just above. The Caption style contents should be centered.

I’m reviewing the Calc guide and the new template has new names for the same style (Text Body is now Body Text, etc…), so there is some extra work to fix.

Olivier

Have you read the entire content of the post?

The point is that a million styles in a document is not a solution, it is a problem.

I think that the caption distinction by object category is too much. “Caption” is enough for our purposes.

Olivier

Figure, Table, Listing and Formula are Writer styles, they cannot be renamed or deleted, so they are in all documents, regardless of whether they have a template applied or new styles are created.
