Need help setting up a board for Writer Guide

@ohallot I am at home for a few weeks, so I thought I would get started with using the Deck on NextCloud.

I created a board for the Writer Guide. The first thing I see when clicking on it is “Create a new list to add cards to this board”. What is a list? What should I call it?

I have read the wiki page on Managing Guide Production Tasks with Nextcloud Deck. It does not tell me how to set up a board with columns and tasks.

I’m looking at the columns and tasks on the Getting Started board as a guide to what to put on the Writer Guide board.

Is there a way to copy the various columns and tasks from one board to another, so I don’t have create each one individually?

Regards, Jean

Hi Jean

A list is what you see in the columns.

A task is represented by a card in the columns.

A task can have several steps in the description area

If you click on the ellipsis in the board section on the left, you should have the command to clone the board.

You can invite nextcloud users to be part of the board.

@ohallot OK, I found Clone Board, but that only gave me column titles. I can’t find a way to clone the list of tasks (with checklist of steps) in the description area for each card.
I’ve added you to the people who can edit the board.
Thanks, Jean

Hi Jean

I also miss a card cloning action…

I added the remaining cards in the pre-production list and filled with the tasks to do on each card.

If possible, the board name should include “262” to make it more precise. Only the board creator can do it.

I created the folder 26.2 in NextCloud and added the /25.2/Published/ files. I also renamed them to WG262nn-* scheme.

Unfortunately the Clone Cards feature on Decks seems to be a work in progress.

Until they get around to implementing it, we are stuck with creating a new card and copy/pasting the information into it.

Edit: No wait, I misread that. I think it exists but might be an add-on or something. I’ll look into it.

Thank you for setting all that up for me. Very much appreciated. I have now changed the name of the board to include 26.2. - Jean
