More Impress v3.5 chapters published

I've now published to the wiki and to ODFAuthors all the Impress v3.5
chapters that PeterS has done in the past few weeks.

Peter, do you think it's worth someone's while to retrofit your v3.5
chapters 6 through Appendix A for v3.4, so we can have a full v3.4
book to complete the set of v3.4 books? I still have LO v3.4 on my
machine, and probably others do too.

Hello Jean

After converting the first couple of chapters to Impress LO3.5, I think all we need to do is change the publication message at the front from:

"Published 26 March 2012. Based on LibreOffice 3.5."

to

"Published 26 March 2012. Based on LibreOffice 3.4."

The earlier 3.4 chapters I upgraded to LO3.5 did not require any major changes. It was just correcting some minor errors that I found whilst reading the chapters and checking against the software.

After busy period with personal things I can now get back to converting the remaining 3.4 chapters to LO3.5.

Hello Jean (again she says)

I shall install LO3.4 on my old Toshiba laptop that I use as a test machine and check the 3.5 chapters against it just to make sure everything is OK.

So there are no changes from 3.4 to 3.5? That's good from a docs POV.

Next question: shall we do a Preface, similar to the one I've done for GS?

Hi
It is pretty fantastic to have Impress as the first Guide already done for 3.5.x branch.

I don't think it's hugely important to take it backwards to 3.4!  I guess it would be nice but Calc and Base could probably use some help and getting Draw up to 3.5 would help show off a few of the new features that attract a lot of the attention.

Hi guys,

I was wondering if the new features in 3.5 for the different applications
are listed somewhere. I joined this mailing list a few days back and I am
trying to figure out what would be a good place to start contributing to
the documentation.

Thanks,
Abhishek

Hi
The Chapter 5 is missing but it's the only one and i think Peter did upload it to ODFAuthors and i suspect you did the finishing touches.

The Lulu link for the Calc Guide wasn't working but i found the right link and fixed it on the wiki.  I think Lulu changed their filing system, judging from the looks of the links.  The other links seem to have already been updated and do work.  I tested them

Thanks Jean :))

That's first job on the list for this morning.

Thanks, Tom. The bad link was probably my error. More likely than a change at Lulu.

Hi
By "this morning" i take it you meant tomorrow, which is today at last and the chapter 5 is done along with the preface.

I don't think you are to blame for the bad link.  It looked like the sort of thing that would have been legit before a sensible re-organisation/re-filing at the Lulu end.  These things are inevitable as change is inevitable.  So, it's good to see that we are so quick to respond that we fixed it before anyone noticed and grumbled.  All good
