LibreOffice 3.4 Release Notes

At the last marketing team confcall I offered to help coordinate completing the release notes of the upcoming 3.4 version and then distilling the information into a version more suitable for our website accompanied with photos of some or many of these changes.

Could we, all, please take a close look at the information on the Release Notes 3.4 wiki page[1] to make sure that the information is complete and correct? This will help greatly in easing the task of creating a more suitable page for the website. We just have to make sure that all the details are there and that we have not missed anything major in the list.

We are hoping to have a website page showing the new/changes/corrections of this iteration and another page with the 3.3 version where reviewers/users/members will be able to compare.

*** The marketing team is hoping to have the website page ready by/prior to the projected release date of May 31st[2]. The challenge is to have most language group pages translated by this date as well. ***

Feel free to update the wiki page or leave me a note on this thread.

Hi Florian

Michael Meeks and Kohei Yoshida did reply. You can read it on the marketing thread[1].

As we are getting close to the release date, we should look to preparing the website page on LibreOffice.org so that the different language groups have enough time to translate. As you know, and, as Michael Meeks pointed out, the screenshot topic was quite a controversial topic at the time of the last version release. There is a thread on the marketing list trying to establish the protocols for this upcoming version[2].

IMO, we will be better prepared for the next release if we can streamline the process this time. We will need committed language reps who will be prepared to localize/translate the international webpage before the release date. I am not sure if we will be able to accomplish for this release. We will be able to have the international webpage out in time though.

As per our Marketing concall, on our "Download" website page[3], we decided to have a link for v.3.4 and v.3.3.2. This would allow members/visitors to toggle from one version to the next to compare both versions.

We need to:

* on the "Download" website link rename the "New features and fixes" to "Version 3.3.2 features" or some other descriptive title
* prepare the international webpage for the LibreOffice 3.4 version and name this page similar to the previous version page
* take screenshots of v. 3.4 features and fixes
* once the international website page has been completed, have language groups localise/translate the website page

sorry for jumping in on this so late -- as you can imagine, the events of the last days kept me rather busy.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed and made the current release possible. Great job, really appreciated!
