Bugs in Preface

  • Heading: Minimum requirements for using LibreOffice
    The minimum requirements for MacOs and WIndows are erroneous : MacOS must be 11 (Big Sur) and MicroSoft Windows 10.
    (as you can see in the page System requirements — LibreOffice )
  • Heading: Using LibreOffice on macOS
    Also the requeriments for macOS is erroneous
  • Heading: What is new in LibreOffice 26.2
    The link to the release notes is for version 25.2, (must be for 26.2)
    The changes listed are changes from the guide but they seem to be from LibreOffice (I think Changes in the Guide should be indicated)

Bugs in Chapter 12

  • New screenshots are necessary,
    Most of the screenshots are from version 24.8 (LibreOffice > Personalization and LibreOffice > Application Colors) in version 25.2 these settings are changed by LibreOffice > Appearance

  • Heading: Loading and saving documents > Default file format and ODF Settings
    Default file Format must be 1.4 extended (not 1.3)


Bugs in Apendix B (chapter 15)

  • Heading: A short history of LibreOffice
    In one paragraph it reads “LibreOffice 3.3 was released in January 2011 and version 26.2 was released in June 2026.” LibreOffice 26.2 Was released in February as his version number said

  • Heading What is OpenDocument?
    All text and links are refered to version 1.3 specifications, Must be for the version 1.4 (LO 26.2 saves in 1.4 extended as default)

@bantoniof Thank you for reporting those bugs. They are important and show that whoever reviewed and updated those chapters was not paying enough attention.

@ohallot Will someone be making these corrections and reissuing the PDF? I don’t want to do the print edition and then need to do it again.

Yes, I’m working on the updates now. I’ll update when the revised version is on bookshelf.

Thank you. For creating the print edition, I need the ODT file for the book. (That works better as a starting point for my workflow.) I assume you will replace the files in NextCloud with the corrected files when they are available.

Yes, the revised ODT file is in the Published folder on Nextcloud. I’m just waiting for some final checks.

I see updated ODTs for the Preface and Chapter 12, but not Appendix B or the full book in the Published folder on NextCloud. Am I missing something, or did I misunderstand you?

Sorry, I’m not sure what happened there. They should be in the folder now.
