Do I need to update the wiki?

Greetings,
I came across a reference in the Contributor's Guide to changing the wiki when I download a document file in order to reflect that I am reviewing/proofreading that file so that efforts are not duplicated. I think this is the wiki that was referred to:

    https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Development/UserGuideTasks#Base_Handbook

A few days ago I downloaded chapter 3 of the 3.6 Base manual from ODFAuthors and I started working on it. However, I have not done any such notification to the wiki. Is that something I need to do?
If so, how do I go about it?
It sounds like I would need a wiki account to make any modifications to this table.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you need to get a wiki account. If you go to the top of the page of the link you mention, you can create an account by clicking the "Create Account". Just fill in the information it asks for including your password. After than you should be able to edit LO's wiki.
Your link is for the German Base Handbook, not Base Guide. Your link is for an English translation of the German handbook on base. The Base Guide section is just above it. The link is
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Development/UserGuideTasks#Base_Guide.

Hi
Yes, i think that is the right place for the Base Handbook sign-out sheet.  You can register yourself for the wiki.  It's not something done by Admins so it's quite different from ODFAuthors and other places.  I think Login/Register is at the top right of the page

Dan,
Thanks for the update and information. I created the account using your instructions and it seems to be okay. That is the first time I used this wiki editing process. I found the editing a bit crude (I thought it would just allow me to edit the cell in the table directly), but I figured it out and added my initials to the table cells. It is my understanding that I do not put the date I downloaded the file, but leave the date off until I upload the file into "feedback". So, currently there is no date after my initials.
I hope to get Chapter 3 done and uploaded this week.
