Bug or a behavior change in Draw?

In versions 7.5 and earlier

A click on the border of an object (or text box) selected the object and allowed it to be moved or sized.
A second click changed the handles and put it into spin (rotation) mode.

As of version 7.6, with a second click the object remains selected but does not place it in rotation mode.
You have to use the transformation tools to be able to rotate it.

Is this a bug or a behavior change?

  • If it is a behavior change, the instructions in the Draw guides are not correct.

(Tested with versions 7.6.7.2 and 24.2.5.2 on Windows 10)

Hello Bantoniof

Instructions in the Draw Guide 24.2 for switching on rotation mode are correct.

Select an object, the click again on the selected object and rotation mode is switched on. For a text box, you have to make sure the cursor is on the text box border.

A double click on an object switches on text mode.

What I say in my message is that in my versions 7.6 and 24.2 this does not work.
Have you really checked it?

Yes, I checked it using LO 24.2 and 24.8 in macOS and Ubuntu OS before I replied to your message.

Just tested in Windows 11 and it works. Click, then click again.

I will add DO NOT double click to the instructions.

I think it is better to indicate:
use the menu Insert > Text Box or use the Rotate tool on the Standard or Transformations toolbars.

In my version 24.2 it now works, and in ArchLinux also.
But I can’t get it to work in version 7.6.7.2. in (Windows 10).
I will continue checking.

Hello Antonio

I have just tested LO 7.6.7.2 on Windows 11.

Selected an object twice to switch on rotation mode and it worked OK. A double click switches the selected object into text mode.

I have restored the interface settings to default on my version 7.6.7.2 and the issue has been resolved.

  • I don’t remember at any time having changed any settings related to mouse behavior.
