Wiki page "Sorting in Calc"

Hi documentation team,

I want to write a Wiki page about “Sorting in Calc”. The draft is not yet finished, but you can see already most of the planed content in User:Regina/Sandbox for additions to existing pages - The Document Foundation Wiki

My question is, where should I put a link to the new wiki page?

Looking at the topic, could it be under Information and resources for LibreOffice macros - The Document Foundation Wiki ?

Hi @Regina

The paper can go into the FAQ: Faq/Calc - The Document Foundation Wiki

Kind regards
Olivier

@ohallot, that means I have to make it translatable?

The current sections “Editing”, “Opening / …”, “Printing”, “Formatting”, “Errors”, “Formulas” and “Charts” do not really fit. I can think of a section “Sorting / Filtering / Data Analysis”. Add such?

Have a new section “Macros” in Faq/Calc? The page mentioned by @ilmari has no suitable section where a single, special topic would fit. I can think of some more Calc specific macros for such new section, e.g. How to use a Calc function in a Basic macro? Or use section " Resources on this wiki" on BASIC - The Document Foundation Wiki ?

I’m thinking that you want to copy your sandbox contents into a new wiki page linked from the FAQ. Is that right?

If so, Adding a new section would be fine and welcome. We can re-arrange with some entries found in “Formulas”. And on translation, add your contents and we will find a way to make it translatable.

Olivier

I can do the translation tech stuff.

I have now
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BasicMacrosSortingInCalc
linked from
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BASIC

and
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Calc/Sorting_Sorting_in_Calc
(needs likely a new place and name)
linked from
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Calc

That’s a great offer. Thank you.

The Basic-macro page should be ready. Only my English may need some improvement, and there are probably still some spelling mistakes.

The “Sorting in Calc” page is not complete. Some screenshots and images are missing and the labels in the UI of the “Sort” dialog will likely change before the release in 26.2.

@ilmari, my try to add a link to Faq/Calc - The Document Foundation Wiki was incorrect. Sorry for that. It likely needs some technical corrections.

I have content for a page for “How to get a randomized order of my data (shuffle)?” linked from Faq/Calc - The Document Foundation Wiki. Could you add the link for me, so that the page is at the correct place and with correct title from the beginning?

Alright, I will check it out. By the way, I moved the Basic page under Macros path: Macros/BasicMacrosSortingInCalc - The Document Foundation Wiki

Now I removed the extra “Sorting” from the path of Faq/Calc/Sorting in Calc - The Document Foundation Wiki

I also added menus and fixed the heading levels - the heading levels should never start from Heading 1, but from 2.

Ok, Macros/BasicMacrosSortingInCalc - The Document Foundation Wiki now contains the translation markup, but is not yet marked for translation. Anyone can do the marking whenever the time is right.
