Hello,
some of you may have wondered why TDF is looking for an infrastructure administrator.
With his approval, I today share that Guilhem has decided to leave TDF at the end of the year, after being with us for a decade - he started in October 2016.
First and foremost, I would like to thank you, Guilhem, for your work, passion, dedication, loyalty, thoughtfulness, professionality, for your calmness, your humour, your support during tough times and for all the fantastic things you did for our community, the project and The Document Foundation.
Infrastructure is one of the areas that often works a lot in the background, is mostly visible when things are not working, but at the same time, is so essential and key to all we do as a project. Without infrastructure, we don’t host code, we don’t distribute binaries, we don’t have video conferences - and of course, without infrastructure, you would not even be able to read this message.
In the time of Guilhem’s work for TDF falls the pandemic, that has shown all of us, how important personal meetings and interactions are - and so I am very much looking forward to meeting you in person during our team meeting this month, and also at LibOCon!
At the same time, this period has shown us how critical a reliable infrastructure is, when we work around the globe, crossing the borders of timezones, cultures and languages.
TDF is not small anyore. In our annual reports, we all see how our setup is growing year to year. Our community is active 24/7, during holidays and weekends, and providing reliable infrastructure for all needs is a huge responsibility, which Guilhem has always met with excellence.
I am sad to see you leaving, but I am thanksful, grateful and happy for all you did for us, and I am sure we will stay in touch also after your work here has ended - not only because you and me share one rare passion, which is being a postmaster running our own mail servers. 
In whatever capacity, you are always and will always be welcome at our community!
With Guilhem I’ve discussed that for the next months, the focus will be documentation and increasing our infrastructure’s resiliency, sharing knowledge with other team members, but also interested volunteers in our infra calls. In turn, this means, that deployment of new services will be slower than usual, but we ask for your understanding.
With the role open for hire, we will also think together how to (re)structure the responsibilities, to ensure the growth of our infrastructure stands on solid grounds.
