Tabs mode discuss(11-may-2026)

As we discussed it in group, I try to test different collaboration platforms. Heiko Tietze started it today, he published to Penpot and give link to chat. I will try to test using Discourse to discussing.
First topic will be related to LibreOffice Tab Mode. I compared tab mode in different office suites and created screenshot (see Home-tab.png - The Document Foundation Nextcloud)

First question: do you want to use system frame or create own window border?
It has pros (It takes many place on screen, but cons also it will be not similar with all system and , as you can notice from my screenshot OnlyOffice don’t use my chosen theme to window decoration, what’s why I enabled in window border in Waterfox, even that it takes place in screen.

I’ll write the same as on Telegram, there needs to be a purpose to use the system Frame, I personally do not mind as I am familiar with using this concept from web browsers and other software. If meaningful improvements can be made, such as a search widget or short cuts/quick actions then I see it as an improvement and would support the request. The usage of tabs for documents is also interesting if LibreOffice intended to move in this direction.

I know that a number of users do not agree with this proposal so I think it makes sense that there would be an option to switch this off if not wanted.

Yes, similar as in Telegram WIndow: You can enable/disable qt frame.Ok, later I will check how it can be used or not.

I personally like how apps like Visual Studio and Blender take advantage of the empty space in the title bar to put the menus (and, in our case, tabs) up there.
