I’m happy to leave a review — LibreThinker earned it. Some background, in case it helps others.
I and Claude spent a full day trying to get Claude working inside LibreOffice, testing five extensions along the way:
- LibreAI — installed but failed to load entirely; the Linux build was compiled for Ubuntu 24.04 and wouldn’t run on Fedora 44 due to library mismatches.
- Lexico — installed cleanly, but it only supports locally-hosted models (Ollama, LM Studio) — no path to a cloud provider like Anthropic at all.
- LibreMuse — installed and showed as enabled, but never surfaced any actual UI anywhere (no menu, no toolbar, no context menu option) despite multiple restarts.
- LangAI Assistant — had a real settings panel and explicitly listed Claude as a provider, but the connection consistently failed regardless of API key or settings.
LibreThinker was the one that actually worked, and it worked cleanly once we found the right settings — BYOK section, model ID anthropic/claude-sonnet-5, existing API key, done. No crashes, no silent failures, straightforward once we knew where to look.
