How to publish translations?

Several years ago, I added several templates and periodically update them, correct errors, and add new features.
These templates are used in countries that use ESKD for design documentation, and they are written in Russian.
The templates are published in English and Russian at https://extensions.libreoffice.org/.

When I post another update, the English version of the page is approved quickly (usually within a couple of days):

Currently, the latest version 1.10 is published (see the Description column).

But updates to the Russian-language page are always ignored:

Version 1.8 is still displayed there. For some reason, versions 1.9 and 1.10 were ignored after I sent a request for publication.

I wanted to know if any additional steps are required to publish a translation. How do I correctly publish updates to the template page in languages other than English?

And one more question related to translations. My editor says that the templates are published in German. But this is a mistake, I did not plan to support the page in this language. Is there any way to delete a publication in a specific language?

That’s a bug on the platform. The site has a page that lists all extensions tagged ready for publication. But obviously this list does not consider modifications to one language (confirming that ESKD in Russian is available for publication). It works for non-English only extensions, for example #99507.

Hi, I’ve seen similar behavior with extension translations on extensions.libreoffice.org before, so I can share what usually causes this.

From what I understand, each language version of an extension page can go through a separate moderation/approval workflow, and sometimes updates to non-English pages don’t get re-approved automatically even when the main (English) page is updated. In a few cases, it’s just a backlog in the translation/content review queue rather than anything you’re doing wrong.

A couple of things you might want to try/check:

  • Make sure the Russian page is actually linked correctly as a translation of the same extension entry (not treated as a separate “fork” page).
  • Re-submit or explicitly request re-publication of the Russian version after each update (sometimes only the main language triggers review).
  • If it’s consistently stuck on 1.8, it may be worth opening a ticket in the LibreOffice QA/Extensions issue tracker or asking in the dev/QA mailing list so moderators can manually sync or re-approve it.
  • Regarding the German language entry showing incorrectly: in some cases only extension maintainers or portal admins can remove an unintended language entry, so you may need to request a cleanup from the extensions team.

It does sound more like a moderation/workflow issue than a translation problem itself.

I just published the next release of the templates - version 2.0.
Two versions of the page have been updated:

  • first for Russian
  • then for English

A publication request has been submitted for each of them.
Let’s see how it goes now.

This will require more work than I expected from my side.

What I can do for the moment is to archive the German version.
