How to lower the footer on a Writer document

I have inserted a footer in a Writer document, but it is too high on the page and not close to the bottom of the page. I have tried to modify it using the Footer section of the Page Style tab but to no effect. How can I lower the footer to nearer the bottom of the page?

Oh. OK. Apologies

Hi.
I assume when you refer to the footer you inserted you mean an image or banner you want to show in the footer of the document. When I have done this I manually adjust the size of the footer in the page style so that it is large enough and then pasted the image into the footer.

Hello Paul
Go to Format > Page Style and you will open the dialog. Click on Footer to go to the Footer settings page.

Hi PeeWee

I’ve already tried to do that but I can’t find out how to lower the line dividing the footer from the body of the document or to lower the text in the footer space below the line

Hi Steve

No, that’s not the problem. I have a line of text in the footer space but it is too high on the page and I can’t find out how to lower the line dividing the footer from the body of the document or to lower the text in the footer space below the line

Hello Paul

At the moment, the only way I know of to lower the border line in a footer is to adjust the padding in the footer dialog.
Click in the footer, then click on Format Footer to open the dialog. Select Border and increase the Top padding setting. Make sure synchronise is turned off for padding.

Hi PeeWee

I’ve tried this. It moves the line down but not the footer which remains too high on the page. I’ve attached a simple Writer document with the footer showing too high on the page. I want it nearer to the bottom of the page.

It’d be great if you could show me how to do it

Cheers

Paul

Hi again

I’ve solved it now. Lowering the bottom margin has done it

Paul

Hello Paul
From your messages I assumed you wanted to reduce the size of the footer.
Reducing bottom margin is the best solution.
