Feedback on a compact Windows Calc shortcut reference

Ilmari Lauhakangas suggested bringing this idea to the documentation team after I asked about a free Calc reference and an optional paid desk mat.

I have a first selection of 16 shortcuts for a one-page Windows Calc 26.2 reference. The key mappings were checked against the official guide, but have not been tested in Windows Calc. The aim is a short sheet someone can keep beside the keyboard.

Move around

  • Ctrl+Home: go to A1
  • Ctrl+End: go to the last used cell
  • Ctrl+PgUp: previous sheet
  • Ctrl+PgDown: next sheet

Select cells

  • Shift+arrow: extend the selection one cell
  • Ctrl+Shift+arrow: extend to a data-range edge
  • Ctrl+Space: select the column
  • Shift+Space: select the row

Edit and recover

  • F2: edit the active cell
  • Esc: cancel the current edit
  • Ctrl+Z: undo the last action
  • Ctrl+Shift+V: open Paste Special

Fill and format

  • Ctrl+D: fill down within a selection
  • Ctrl+1: open cell-format options
  • Ctrl+Shift+5: apply percent formatting, using the number-row 5
  • Ctrl+;: insert the current date

These assume default key assignments and cell focus, except when entering or cancelling an edit. Keyboard settings can change the results. The source is Calc Guide 26.2, Appendix A:

Which entries would you replace for someone learning Calc, and are any of these short descriptions misleading? I would also welcome feedback from anyone who has used a printed shortcut sheet beside their keyboard. Would a desk mat offer anything useful over a free printout?

The printable reference would be free. I am considering a paid physical desk mat, but nothing is for sale and no physical sample has been tested. This is an independent proposal, with no LibreOffice or TDF endorsement. The selection and descriptions above are offered under the forum’s CC BY-SA 3.0 license.

For your information, there are already LibreOffice reference cards, you can find them on the wiki: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications#Desktop_Reference_Cards

As for the shortcuts that you indicate, verified that they work in LO Calc v26.8.0.3 Windows 10 (ES)

If this is truly intended for a beginner I would condense it quite a bit . If you are looking at a true beginner that is alot of information Maybe a longer or side conversation for just beginner shortcuts I would look at something like this - As a Chart

Quick tip: Try these right away.

Select a few cells → press Ctrl/Cmd + C → move to another place → press Ctrl/Cmd + V.

Then press F2 on a cell to edit it, and Esc to cancel.

You could then have a second part for tables organized by tasks I think reframing the intro combined with the learn these first would be more effective for begnners
