Error in Writer Guide 24.8 covering concordiance files

Writer Guide 24.0, chapter 13, page 355 covers the creation and use of a concordiance in documents produced in Writer. It is missing two very important steps that if not followed will not allow the file to be imported.

  1. If the list is created using a spreadsheet, the list must be saved as a CVS file
  2. That CVS file must then be renamed with a SDI filename extension.

Failure to do either of these will not produce the expected results.

I agree with you that the information is not complete but:

It is not necessary to create the file with a spreadsheet.

  • The concordance file can be created or edited directly when creating the alphabetical index
with the File button, below the Concordance File box (opens a field editor for the concordance file)
  • The concordance file can be created with any plain text editor
  • If done with a spreadsheet, you must indicate the semicolon as a separator when exporting to cvs.

Although in the window to open the concordance file only *.sdi files are searched, you can open and use any file (with this format) if you type the full name (with the extension) for example Concordance.txt

Also The guide lacks the description of the seventh field (which is a comment and is not necessary either)
