Please can the Membership Committee urgently update us all on their plans for the upcoming Board election. In 2023 the announcement was made on October 31, and the nomination phase ended on December 8. Assuming the new and old boards are going to hold a joint meeting at FOSDEM as usual, time is rapidly running out.
The TDF board of director term is two years as per the statutes - which means, the current board’s term ends on February 18th.
With the other requirement of at least 45 days from election announcement to commencement, I believe it is no longer possible for the MC to get a new board elected in time, before the current board’s term expires.
Does that mean the current board will be over-staying its term? And if so, for how long?
It is inexplicable, that for this (and many other) critically important questions, there are no answers for months on end. The foundation that I helped setting up was based on the strong principles of meritocracy and democracy amongst the members. Delaying or even cancelling elections is therefore a most serious matter; doing so silently or without clearly explained reasons is simply unacceptable.
Can the MC, either via chair person @gbpacheco or from individual members, please comment?
Thanks, Thorsten
Just curious, when will the elections happens?
Why are we not following the clear timeline in the statutes?
Why aren’t trustees opinion is asked before breaking these bylaws?
And why noone answered to this questions yet?
I really thought that in TDF, the will of the trustees should prevail … that is why we vote for board members.
Thanks,
Attila
